Deus Ex

I apologise for not posting lately, I spent the last weekend at the wedding of my mother and stepdad and then at Leeds Festival (which I plan to post something relevant to in the near future) and once I got back I went down to my dad's house for a few days. I got back on wednesday but there's been one problem - I've had no real internet. We've been switching internet and phone provider, and that means the phone line needs to be changed. This is taking longer than expected so I'm being forced to use a dongle, but speed and overly tight fair usage policies prevent me from my usual pastimes of playing video games on the internet and watching people play video games while talking at the same time.

Granted, there are plenty of single-player games I could play, but as I just got an oversized new monitor and don't want to try and make my current graphics card try to cope with the increased resolutions I decided to stick to something that wouldn't put a strain on it, which turned out to be Deus Ex.

I'm sure you've heard about Deus Ex: Human Revolution, which has just been released, but this is the game that came before (there was another game in between but it wasn't overly impressive). And it's damn awesome. Awesome enough to be voted 'Best PC game ever'. Twice. Years after its release in 2000. A game like that's gotta' be worth playing.

Video time!

A bit of a cop-out post I know, but I'm currently going through a load of stuff registering for uni. I'm hopefully going to be making a post on Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya at some point this week. So without any further ado (more after the break):

Actually why playing pyro in TF2 is awesome:

5 Under-rated Songs by Well-known Bands

I'm not wanting to overshadow the recent success of my associate, but I haven't posted here in a while and feel I should probably start to get some kind of semi-regular update schedule, or something to that effect. Today I feel like posting something about another topic of great interest to me - music. However, lacking anything substantial to say right now (I would love to talk about my band but I should have something more to say about that soon) I chose to default to a list. Because everyone likes lists.

Warning: I tend to get quite into it when I talk about music I like, so be prepared for potentially tl;dr inducing descriptions as to why all these tracks are awesome.

Being very passionate about music I have a pretty wide taste in it and I'm open to pretty much anything on the one condition that I find it to be genuinely musically good in its own way. My music library has everything from rock to rap to ska to electro to jazz, and many seemingly bizarre fusions such as the country/gospel/acid house stylings of the Alabama 3 - but that's a story for another day. Naturally some of these artists are on the twenty feet underground in a sealed, dark nuclear bunker in the desert side of obscure, but it would be completely untrue to say there aren't plenty of popular artists, both new and old whom I love. Although many don't, many artists and bands do get famous for good reasons.

Why Playing Pyro in TF2 is awesome (This title may or may not be relevant to the actual article)

Note: I apologise in advance for the inconsistency of this article.

Okay, well I have to confess that in the time period I will be writing this I will either be drunk or groggy and tired and slightly hung over, so the standard of writing and entertainment value may vary. I’ve been asked to write something to qualify me for writing on this blog within a couple of days and at the time of asking (immediately before now, when I am writing this) I was about as inspired as...as someone not inspired enough to think of a fitting simile for lack of inspiration. The article was also intended to be about gaming, which admittedly I haven’t done a lot of quite recently. As I’m literally doing this as I go along, for some reason I think it’s a good idea to go into this and make an article about it, and as I have nothing else to go on:

A challenger approaches.....Mashirafen?

What is this?! Not related to Super Smash Bros. at all I'm afraid, though sort of important in the grand blogging scheme of things. Essentially I'm trying to come up with a dramatic way of introducing a new author on the blog, but it's not coming to be right now. So here it is:

A WILD MASHIRAFEN APPEARS!
